Cultural Celebration Day

Cultural Day at our school is one of the most anticipated events of the year. It's a day where we get to swap our usual uniforms for traditional and personal outfits that reflect our diverse backgrounds, bringing a burst of colour and excitement to the hallways. Walking through the school, you can see a vivid tapestry of saris, kimonos, dashikis, sports shirts and much more, each representing a unique part of ourselves. It's not just about the clothes; it's about the stories and symbolism they carry. This day offers us a chance to learn about and appreciate the rich cultural diversity among our peers.

The activities during tutor time are one of the highlights. This year, each tutor room was filled with music, dance, and laughter. We also had multiple activities during lessons, like having a go at discovering new vocabulary from different languages and exploring past heroes of diverse backgrounds. Some activities built a sense of community and understanding among students. In the main, what stood out throughout the whole day is the beauty in our differences, including students and teachers.

The idea of a Cultural Day has expanded each year and become even better. This year, the student-led workshops were great, which have been pushed even further by delving more in-depth with traditions and personal experiences! These workshops provided a more immersive learning experience. By continuously evolving and incorporating new ideas, Cultural Day has become an even more enriching and inclusive celebration for everyone at Waingels! And finally, a big thank you to everyone who organised and led this event! We all look forward to next year’s celebrations
