GCSE Results 2023
In a National context of results decreasing back to 2019 levels, Waingels is very pleased to report significantly improved results across all measures compared to 2019. Overall, Year 11 students at Waingels achieved on average a Strong Pass of Grade 5 across all of their subjects. Core subjects accomplished some impressive results including Maths achieving more Grade 5+ results than last year and nearly one extra class of students achieving a Grade 5 in English and Maths than in 2019. Once again, Waingels has achieved very strong results at the top end and above National average results with over a quarter of students achieving Grades 7-9. Furthermore, Disadvantaged students bucked the National trend, achieving significantly better results than 2019; closing the gap between Disadvantaged and Non-Disadvantaged student performance.
The Class of 2023 experienced their first formal examinations this summer following the disruption from Covid during their Key Stage 3 years. We could not be more proud of the young adults they have become, the resilience they have shown, and of course, the results they have achieved.
There are so many outstanding achievements, and each student warrants a mention of their own personal narrative. However, we have chosen the following which exemplify the quality and calibre of the class of 2023:
Konstantin- Seven Grade 9s, one Grade 7, one Grade 5, one Grade 4
Juhana- Six Grade 9s and four 4 Grade 8s
Alexander- Three Grade 9s, two Grade 8s, two Grade 7s, two Grade 6s
Lok-Sum- Eight Grade 9s, one Grade 8, one Grade 7
Anki- Eight Grade 9s, three Grade 8s
Summer- Five Grade 9s, two Grade 8s, one Grade 7 and one Grade 6
Headteacher, Mrs. Humber said, “We are delighted with the examination results that our Year 11 students have achieved this summer. It was a privilege this morning to celebrate with them and their parent/carers – to see so many happy students proud of their achievements and all of the hard work that they put into achieving these fantastic outcomes. I am also delighted that the majority of students have chosen to stay and study at our Sixth Form and that all students have been able to achieve their next steps. I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank our Governors, Parent/Carers and the community for their ongoing support, recognising the strong partnership we have which supports students to reach their full potential.”
